Results and methodology on the effectiveness of entertainment click-ons in edutainment software are reported in this paper. They used a modified version of "Counting on Frank" software, which made a recording in a log file at each mouse-click, keypress, or screen change. The log files provided detailed information for them to calculate statistics of the time spent on click-ons, the findability of click-ons, the number of click-ons on animus objects, the popularity of each click-ons, the repeatability of the click-ons and the chain of activity. Their statistics were calculated by using formulas and results were compared using tables and charts. They found that at the first testing session exploration of scenes and click-on activity was the main activity. This dropped off in later sessions but activity of click-on started to increase again after episodes of math-focused activity occurred. They also found out that Findability and Popularity indices were significantly different for the home and school groups. A gender difference was noted that girls spent more time investigating click-ons while boys spent less time on this activity when the software was being tested at home, while the comparison between the girls and boys remained the same with the game being test at school.
